God's timing is perfect - even when we don't understand

Here's the Nykamp family picture from August 2013.  Dad was in the midst of chemo and radiation for his lung cancer.  Mom and Dad were celebrating 55 years of marriage - what an amazing testimony they are to a Godly marriage.

A week or so ago, Dawn found out she has breast cancer.  Thankfully, the oncologist is very positive and feels quite confident it's a curable form.  That being said, Dawn still has a long road of chemo, surgery and drugs over the next year.  It'll be hard, but we pray the outcome is cancer free.

This week in Orange City, a family we know lost their 3-year-old little girl after a head injury.  It's been such a shock.  My son is in 1st grade with her older sister.  We ache for this family.

All these things - both blessings and heartaches - have been a good reminder of God's continual providence in our lives.  55 years of marriage is a blessing to be celebrated, despite the circumstance of Dad's lung cancer.  Dawn's breast cancer is a battle, no doubt.  But her upbeat attitude and intuition that the Spirit is guiding them is a witness to so many, and will continue to be through her journey.  The death of this precious child of God is so hard, yet reminds us that God calls those He loves home at the timing set by Him.

God's timing is perfect....even when we don't understand.
