There are a couple of our Rhode Island Red hens that like to get out of their pen. Usually if we see them out soon enough, we can guide them back into the pen before our dogs get to it. However, this morning I noticed Jetta with a large, lumpy shape under one of our big pine trees. I went out there, and sure enough, it was one of our hens. It was bound to happen, let's just hope the rest of them learn their lesson and stop trying to get out!
7 hens left + 1 rooster = still a lot of eggs for one family!
I'd love chickens, but as we're looking for a retriever mix, they say it may not be the best combo. Now I see why!
